30 Days of character Development:

Day 29: How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne? 

Rupert would say that Emma smells like chocolate and strawberries. She uses a strawberry scented shampoo and conditioner and a strawberry scented lotion. Once in a while she wears perfume, but not very often.

Day 28: If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be? 

Emma’s life would probably be a Drama/Romantic Comedy with a bit of Tragedy thrown in the mix.

30 Days of character Development:

Day 27: Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them. 

1. Breathe Me by Sia- I chose this song to describe the time in Emma’s life in the after math of the near rape experience. During this time Emma was very self destructive. She was depressed, and often turned to alcohol and Dreamless Sleep potion to get her through. She developed unhealthy habits for both and still struggles with both addictions to this day. Also, I’m sure I’ve never mentioned it, but it is very possible that Emma struggled with self harm during this time. She saw herself as something unworthy of anyone’s love or affection and the only person who was able to get through to her was Rupert. This is sort of her cry for help to him during this time.

2. Heart Skipped a Beat- At one point in her life Emma believed Rupert would never love her the way she loved him. On the surface she had given up hope of ever calling him hers, but underneath she still held on to the hope that he might return her affections. This song is for that time in her life.

30 Days of character Development:

Day 26: Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday. 

Comfort food: Brownies
Vice: Cigarettes
Outfit: Jeans and a t-shirt.
Hot Drink: Hot Chocolate (too easy)
Time of year: Autumn
Holiday: Christmas

Mothers and Daughters || Emma and Tuli (a future para)

Tuli looked down at Dana, she didn’t really want to let her go but knew she be fine here. She placed her down in the play pen and then cooed at Andrea, she then made a pig noise and grinned when she got a giggle. She kissed Dana’s head “Be good you two” she said softly. She then turned to follow Emma into the kitchen, listening to her every word. The talk about having a partner there to help with everything made her sad, she only had herself to take care of the small house and her daughter. She rolled her top lip in and gnawed at before releasing it. She was glad that Emma had someone to help her even if it was here and there.

She looked around the kitchen before going a leaning on one of the counters, thinking. “I am fine, no I’m not living with my parents anymore. I moved into the summer house when I told them I was pregnant. Dimitrius was also making visit, bugging my family and I didn’t want them to get hurt. So I left and they told him I moved somewhere else.” she crossed her arms, suddenly feeling cold. “I sing at muggle cafe’s some days to make some extra money. I feel bad that my parents always pay for stuff” she said tucking her short redish brown hair behind her ear. She had change since leaving school and all in all becoming a mother.

“How is motherhood treating you?” she asked softly.

Emma smiled brightly as she began to fill their plates. “Sorry are you even hungry? I didn’t even ask did I? I have sandwiches and some crisps…some fruit? Here, you know what, help yourself…you’re like family!” she rambled on. For some reason she was a little nervous. She wasn’t used to entertaining guests in her home. No one came to visit. Her parents were in America, Rupert’s father was busy in his job with the ministry, and Rupert didn’t trust anyone enough to let Emma invite anyone over. But Tuli was their Secret-Keeper. She was bound by the Fidelius Charm around their property. She was allowed to come and go as she pleased. 

“Um, motherhood is….” Emma searched her vocabulary for a suitable word, “It’s amazing.” Even that wasn’t a good enough word. It fell flat and didn’t quite capture the way she felt when Andrea learned something new, or laughed, or fell asleep in her arms. She smiled at Tuli as she gathered a sandwich onto her own plate and grabbed some glasses for them. “I was really nervous Tules. Even the day that I went into labor I wasn’t sure I would be able to do this….the whole mommy thing, but I absolutely love it. I can’t even remember what my life was like before her. It must have been extremely boring.” she said chuckling.

“I mean, it’s challenging. I’m sure you know that.” Emma added. She felt a pang of guilt as she realized that however difficult things were for her when Rupert wasn’t around that they were always that way for Tuli. At least she had Rupert whenever he came home. She got little help here and there. “Did you want something to drink Tules? Lemonade? Pumpkin juice? Tea?” she asked.
